Criticism Hits Apple’s New Reality Show ‘Planet Of The Apps’
Planet of the Apps is a reality show coming to Apple Music, which is to lunch this spring and will air exclusively on Apple Music.
After one of the producers Eddy Cue revealed Planet of the Apps reality show details, Apple lovers have not ceased to criticize the upcoming show, saying that it falls beyond expectations and that judging from the trailer the show seems not interesting.
The new trailer of Planet of the Apps plays like most reality TV commercials. It displayed the celebrity judges who will determine who moves on to the second round. The possible contestants pitch them their app ideas while descending on an escalator, which lasts 60 seconds.
Planet of the Apps is like “Shark Tank” meets “The Voice.” The App developers come up with ideas for apps, choose a celebrity mentor such as Will.i.am or Jessica Alba, and eventually win $10 million in funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners as well as premium placement on the front page of Apple’s App Store.
According to Will.I.am “Developers, they’re the rock stars of right now,” while One of the contestants says “We’re eBay for the Snapchat generation.”
TechnoBuffalo report states “Excited yet? If you’re not, I don’t blame you. This seems like a classic case of a big company investing into a program with decent ideas, but totally missing the mark. I’ll save any more criticism until I watch the series in full, but I’m not keeping my hopes up.
“The trailer ends with the line, “watch the [TV series] journey unfold on Apple Music.” So you’re watching a TV show on a music streaming service? That is beyond confusing. Once it beefs up its content, Apple will probably spin-off its original shows into a separate app, or at least I hope so. Why not the Apple TV app, for example?
Those were among the large criticisms that greeted the show and we hope that the show performs beyond expectations
However, Apple also released a new trailer for its Carpool Karaoke adaptation. The trailer revealed many of the stars that will be riding and singing along in its first season. They include Jeff Gordon Shaquille O’Neal, Alicia Keys and Metallica these will join in as part of the 16 celebrity pairings.
Both shows will be available only via Apple Music, and according to Cue they have garnered over20 million subscribers.
