Big Brother Naija Auditions Concluded, Six Things You Must Know

On November 26 and 29, 2016 open auditions for the second installment of the reality show, Big Brother Naija was concluded in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

The first Big Brother TV series which premiered in 2006 saw one of the 12 contestants Katung Aduwak, win a whopping cash prize of $100000 at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted by viewers.

Meanwhile, speaking on why the show was brought back after 10 years, the Managing Director of MultiChoice of Nigeria, Mr John Ugbe said “Big Brother Africa was popular for its entertainment value and ability to showcase ordinary Africans from different walks of life.
“We decided to re-invent the reality show once again by bringing back the Nigerian version which we are confident will draw pan-African audiences for the same reasons that Big Brother Africa did”.
Well, at the end of last week’s auditions, the twelve contestants who were selected are expected to spend 11 weeks together living in an isolated Big Brother Naija 2016 house.
The show sponsored by PayPorte will be aired on DStv and GOtv from January 2017.

Six Things You Must Know About Big Brother Naija 2016

  1. The program will run for 78 days starting January 22, 2017, with a two-hour televised launch and will end on April 9, 2017, with a two-hour televised finale.
  2. The winner of the Big Brother Naija takes it all. He or she will walk away with N25 million prize money and a brand new KIA Sorento car.
  3. Big Brother Naija will air on dedicated event channels on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtvPlus on channel 29.
  4. A variety of Nigerian personalities will visit the Big Brother Naija house during the show’s duration including musicians and performers.
  5. The voice of ‘Biggie’ will be Nigerian while the show’s presenter will also be a Nigerian.
  6. Unlike other Big Brother competitions around the world, there will be no shower hour in Big Brother Naija.
